Work From Home?
Type in the phrase "work from home" or "work at home" into any
search engine and we all know what will happen. How many millions
of ads on the internet use these words? It's what we all want, right?
Do we really want to work from home? I don't think so. What most
of us really want to do is just STAY home. We want to PLAY at
home. We enjoy sitting in front of our computer and PLAYING with
it for hours! We don't want what we do at home to resemble what
we do at work. If we really wanted to work from home...we might as
well go to work! What would be the difference? A commute?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this. This isn't an assault
against the work ethic. It's just an honest look at our true motivations.
Is it possible to flip the switch from playing at the computer for
free to playing at the computer for money? YES! We use the
same muscles, physical and mental. So what's the difference?
Focus. I must make a confession. I play games on my computer.
Role Playing Games (rpgs), strategy games, even online poker.
Last night I finished 2nd in an online poker tournament with 156
players (brag), it lasted 3 hours and 40 minutes! One of my favorite
rpgs (Baldurs Gate ll) has an estimated completion time of
200-300 hours. (If I live long enough I'll finish). So is there a way
to get that kind of focus on internet marketing? Can it be that
much fun?
Yes to the first question, maybe to the second. To get laser focus
in internet marketing, first we need to identify the activities that
we're going to call "work". Unless you're a web designer or in some
capacity work for an internet company, these activities fortunately
are probably far removed from what most of us do at our jobs.
You need to learn to enjoy writing. Most of your "work" will
involve writing. Writing articles, participating in forum discussions,
writing and answering emails, helping solve peoples problems will
involve email or telephone conversations. You will write ad copy
for sales letters and websites, you'll write to your upline and
downline, to affiliates and partners.
Yes you can take short cuts or short circuit this writing process.
Most affiliate and networking programs have ready made everything
to get you started quickly. You may be able to buy enough
advertising to avoid active participation in the internet marketing
community. Eventually if you're just cutting and pasting your
way to riches it's going to start to feel a lot like WORK!
So how do we make a game out of this? Make it fun? First
recognize that this is not work the way we normally define work.
Work is where we're someplace we'd rather not be. We can be
constantly under pressure and threat at work. We can fail at
work, get fired, get yelled at, be embarrassed, disappointed,
get demoted, dictated to, issued ultimatums, you get the idea.
Compared to this "working" at home isn't really working at all,
it's PLAYING! Where's the pressure coming from? From you?
Do you have to succeed or else? And soon?
We need to make a game out of this internet marketing. It's
easy to do because it really is a game. All these activities that
we decide to identify as "work" should be more accurately identified
as "play". In a computer game, I may be 200 hours away from
saving the world, indeed I may never complete the main quest.
However I will be thrilled with every monster I slay on the way.
I'll reach into it's bloody carcass pull out the bag of gold and
I'll laugh and say to myself, "Why is this Monster wearing pants?
If I were a monster, I wouldn't wear pants!"
Secondly, we need the proper perspective. Sure we want residual
income. We want financial freedom, be our own boss. But we
need to get into the process. Make a habit of the internet
marketing activities that we play every day. Master the process
and the results take care of themselves. Learn to enjoy the process
through practice and your computer "playing" will be more fun
and it will be clear to everyone that you're enjoying yourself and
they will want to be associated with you.
So yes we can learn to focus on playing at internet marketing.
Can it be as much fun as slaying monsters or bluffing someones
grandmother out of a big pot in no-limit holdem poker?

Tips for Avoiding Work at Home Scams
If you have ever done a search on “work at home”, I’m sure you ran into some of these work at home scams and didn’t know it. Most of the people that are looking for work at home web pages couldn’t even spot a work at home scam. This is most like due to the fact that they really want to work from home and the claims of some scams make them think it’s real.
There are many ways to spot these scams. I’m going to be giving you tips on how to spot work at home scams.
Tip one- Most of the scams ask for a self addressed envelope and a $1. This right here is nice scam. I’ll tell you why. They end up sending some stuff envelopes type letter claiming to pay you $500 a week for stuffing the envelopes. You won’t get paid $500 to stuff envelopes.
Tip two- They tell you that it’s really easy work to make X amount of dollars a week. This right here is wrong. Its hard work to own your own business, or working from home. Think about how easy it would be if you worked at a 9 to 5 job. Would that job be really easy to make money from? No, you will have to work for it. It’s the same way with online jobs and businesses. Now this is all depending on what your business is. Internet Marketing is hard to start but easy to make money from once you get the ball rolling. Keep that in mind if you want to own an Internet Market business.
Tip three- If they don’t want to give the information about company, that’s a red flag right there. I wouldn’t even mess with them if they say, it’s a new business and we don’t have a name or anything like that. Avoid them. A real work at home job will give you all the information and more. After you get the information, go and do some research on the company. Check the Better Business Bureau to see if they had any complaints.
Tip four- Avoid the “we will pay you in advance for your services” scam. Here’s how this scam works. The scammer will send you the advance pay in a check. It will clear you bank in about five business days, after about seven business days, the scammer will contact you and claim they over paid you. Now they tell you to return a portion of the check back to them. After that, you bank will send you a notice about the check you deposited bounced and guess what, you’re out of money because you have to pay the bank the bounce check fee and you paid that scammer a portion of that so-called pay check back. This is a real scam. This scam happens all the time.
Tip five- You put you resume up on a find a job type web page. Now a week later you’re getting an email from a company that claims they are expanding and they need some work at home workers to help with this expanding company. This is a scam. They don’t need you’re help but they do need you’re Money or even worst, they need you information. This is really bad, they will use that information and well, they will run you name into the ground and rob you of your identity.

There is no easy way to make a living. Whether we work for someone else on the job or work for ourselves at home - We must work to make money! What I like about work at home is I decide the work and the hours. How would you like to be in control of your life? That Is Work-At-Home!

And if we are not making money then our bills and wants will not be paid for. This is the 40 hours a week – 50 weeks a year – For 40 years plan. This plan allows us to hopefully retire with the golden watch and retirement income. With this plan we get paid only about one fifth of what we are actually worth if we are lucky. Of course, this plan gives us a guaranteed weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly salary. You sell your time for dollars!
When the Boss wants you to work – You work! You will have to put your family, friends, and yes your life on hold. If a family emergency comes up check with the boss first, he will probably let you off if it is a real emergency, but the J.O.B. (Just over broke) owns you. Check with the boss!
Oh, And by the way, back to that retirement income plan. It probably with the cost of living income increases may allow you to ‘just get by.’ Hopefully there will be enough to live sort of comfortable in your old age!?
Work-At-Home (Self-Employed)
This is the 10 to 20 hours a week – 3 to 5 years plan! This is the plan that if we work it really hard and smart will allow us to have a residual income coming in for the rest of our lives in a lot shorter time than the plan above. Of course, unlike the plan above it does not come with a guaranteed salary. But your time is yours!
Work-At-Home sounds real attractive to the novice, but you need to know what you are getting yourself into. This work-at-home business is still a business and you must treat it like a business, not a hobby. You must work it much like the work for boss above – But instead of 40 years to retire – How would you like to retire in 3 to 5 years and Retire (Residual Income for life)?
There are Work-At-Home plans out there that will allow you to work 10 to 20 hours a week for 3 to 5 years and retire. This plan is called Network Marketing and it works for those who work the plan. But you will never make the money in this business (Network Marketing) if you do not stick with it for the full 3 to 5 years.
What I am saying is one company for that whole time (3 to 5 years)! There are many people, and I was one of them, that join a company for 2, 3 months may be as much as 1 year and quit! You will never see the return on your investment in that length of time.
You may make your upline rich. But if you want to produce an insane amount of money in your investment give it the full 3 to 5 years. Yes, I said Investment! It does not matter what the products are in your company! The company can be in telecommunications, nutrition, personal care, etc. What does matter is, are they products you and your organization of people will use every month (Consumable)?
You will be Investing in your companies products – Be a Product of the Product! There is also another area of investing and just as important as the investment in products. You must invest in marketing your business! It does not matter what kind of business you are in an investment in marketing your business is a must.
No One Will Know You Are in Business Unless you Tell – Get the Word out about Your Business!!
For 20+ years I have been working this business (Network Marketing) and I have experienced good times and bad times – But I have hung it out and it is beginning to pay huge dividends. In any business you must first pay the price for success. Then when you pay the price you will see the pay-off. Let me tell you the Pay-Off is HUGE!
